Q&A With Colton Vasek | Defensive End for University of Texas Longhorns Football
Q: How did you get started in football?
A: I was always a huge football fan growing up. I started playing flag football early on and started tackle football in 5th grade.
Q: How did you end up deciding to go to UT?
A: I chose University of Texas because of my belief in Coach Sark, Coach PK and the rest of the staff. I wanted to put my home state on my chest and continue my family’s legacy.
Q: What was one of your favorite experiences in your football career?
A: My favorite experience would definitely be when I got 3 sacks in our state championship and ended up getting defensive MVP.
Q: What does a day of training look like for you?
A: Our training days are different each day. During spring ball right now we’re practicing 3 days a week and also lifting 3 days a week.
Q: What are you looking forward to the most about next season?
A: I’m looking forward to having a fully healthy season and getting to play our first year in the SEC.
Q: What advice would you give to younger you if you could go back in time?
A: I would tell myself to take care of my body as much as possible. Having a few injuries already, I definitely have a new approach as far as taking care of my body.
Q: How would you describe the UT fans and the game day experience at UT?
A: The UT fans are electric and game days are absolutely crazy. DKR is always sold out and it’s definitely the craziest atmosphere I’ve been around.
Q: Where is your favorite place to visit or spend time in Texas?
A: One of my favorite places would definitely be at my family’s ranch in the Texas hill country (Doss, TX).
Q: What inspires you?
A: Ever since I was a kid it’s always been a dream of mine to get to the NFL. I feel like I have no option but to make that happen.
Q: What does your ideal weekend look like?
A: Getting some time to go out to the ranch and going hunting and fishing with the boys.
